WOMEN AND THE DANISH NATIONAL HEALTH CARE SYSTEM
Reprint of Danish government articles on health care in Denmark and the history of the Danish Redstockings. Added comments by Redstockings of the U.S.A. 8 1/2 X 7 booklet, 28 pages.
From Redstockings' 1987 introduction to Women and the Danish National Healthcare System: "As Denmark took ideas from the American Women's Liberation Movement, the United States now has to take ideas from Denmark and the many other countries that have national health care systems. We are in a crisis of astronomical health care costs and poor results in terms of a healthy nation of people ... A system of free quality health care for all ... will bring much needed relief, and for women in particular, a little more of a base, a springboard toward more and more independence, a greater social sharing of the costs of child [and all family care], without which the goal of fully equal relations with men cannot be finally achieved."

REDSTOCKINGS' FIRST ACTION FOR NATIONAL HEALTH CARE IN THE U.S.: A consciousness-raising workshop at a conference for devising a national health care system, May 16, 1987, Chevy Chase, Md.
"Consciousness-raising has proved to be a powerful tool both for the learning of the `organizers' and the learning of those whom they are organizing...it offers enormous promise of help in popularizing the national health care issue and more quickly winning this wonderful advance for the masses of people in the United Sates and this basic building block of women's liberation."
