Redstockings Memorial Speakout for Simone de Beauvoir, May 1, 1986, New York City
 
 
This is the audio from the U.S. memorial for the mother of radical feminism - Simone de Beauvoir - held two weeks after her death. It took place at Soho 20 Gallery in New York City, organized by Redstockings. 
 
Many feminists gave testimonies and messages:

- Collete Price (reading from Beauvoir's 1972 book "All Said and Done," and reads from the 1949 Introduction to "The Second Sex")

- Ti-Grace Atkinson (She went to Paris for Beauvoir’s funeral, and reads a message from French radical feminists, including Christine Delphy)
